The 3 Crowns Wine Fair

three crowns wine fairOn Saturday 9th August, the team behind The 3 Crowns Public House and Restaurant will host an all-day, outdoor wine fair complete with stalls hosted by specially selected wine merchants, food from head chef Lee Urch, live music and carnival games. In the unexpected location, a stone’s throw from Silicon Roundabout (Old Street) the fair will add a touch of ‘summer fete’ to the inner-city. Brunswick Place, just outside the pub, will be closed off to traffic and grass turf laid to create a green and lively space amongst the concrete of this active Islington corner. Guests can simply drop by throughout the day, as it is open event with no reservation required.

At The 3 Crowns Wine Fair guests will be able to try a variety of wines directly from the winemakers themselves; guests will buy a branded wine glass for £5 at the bar and top it up with 125ml measures of the finest wines at each of the pit stops. The 3 Crowns will provide the platform to showcase those vendors with a keen interest in bringing new and innovative wines from the Continent’s lesser-known producers to the London audience. Larger merchants such as Roberson, and Vinothentic have a prevalent array of wines from vineyards around the world with a particular focus on those that use traditional and ancestral methods of viticulture – making wine in harmony with nature.

A selection of boutique traders will also offer exciting and exceptional wines, rarely sold in the mainstream market, such as local business owners Luca Dusi and Federico Bruscetta from Passione Vino that literally means “passionate for wine”, who seek to find the most unusual and undiscovered Italian wine makers. Portuguese Story tell the narrative of Portugal through authentic, locally grown wines created in a unique climate where the Mediterranean and Atlantic Ocean meet to produce firm, full bodied wines. No wine fair would be complete without the presence of France and The French Wine Project, based in the Cote de Blaye, will bring wines from the Chateau des Tourtes region amongst other hidden jewels from around the country.

The 3 Crowns head chef, Lee Urch, will be serving plates of charcuterie and cheeses along with dishes such as confit duck sandwiches and pork belly with beans and will cost between £5-£10. A designated area with tables will allow guests to eat comfortably with front of house service from Rohit Patkar, co-owner of the restaurant. Good food and wine will be accompanied with family friendly activities including croquet, boules and a raffle with proceeds going to charitable organisation Better Health who will also have a stall selling locally produced bread made by adults recovering from mental ill health. To cap it all off, musical collective Feldspar will headline a small, curated stage of local talent with original material throughout the event.
