This July a special summer edition of Appetite Festival will take place in Waltham Forest’s Lloyd Park as part of Walthamstow Garden Party, a free two-day festival produced by the Barbican and Create.
Showcasing local food businesses and growers, the Appetite tents will be set up on Lloyd Park’s moated island on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 July. The perfect mini art & food festival, Summer Appetite will magic-up the ideal chill-out space, complete with deckchairs, vintage vehicles and the opportunity to taste and buy from stalls set up by the best of E17 foodies – everything from Walthamstow-grown organic vegetables to mouth-watering must-have gourmet food delights. The exciting events programme will bring the award-winning Artillery twist to the delectable and slightly naughty festival menu of gin palaces and pop-up tea rooms. With a focus on local artists, designers, writers and performers Summer Appetite will make us all eat our words with invitations to play, poetry and spoken word performances, a very special Art Stall and some grown-ups-only liquor-lubricated evenings.
Entry to the Walthamstow Garden Party will be free, from 12 noon – 8pm daily and everyone is welcome.
Set directly behind the William Morris Museum, Lloyd Park has been a favourite recreational place for Waltham Forest residents since it was opened on 28th July 1900 – so our Summer Appetite Festival will be just days before the park celebrates it’s 114th birthday. We feel newspaper publisher Frank Lloyd, whose donation of the house and gardens making gallery and park possible, would have thoroughly approved…..
Full details of stall holders and the event programme will be announced shortly, so keep your eye on the website (www.appetitefestival.co.uk) and follow on twitter @appetiteinfo for up-to-date news, offers and sneaky previews.
